Founded in April 2008 by Darron Meares, Bowtie Benefit Auctions began as a division of the Meares Auction Group. Due to rapid growth and a clear focus on serving charities, Bowtie quickly evolved into a standalone entity specializing in fundraising auctions and consultation services. Our mission has always been to support children and education-related charities, but our reach and expertise have expanded across numerous fields.
About Darron Meares
Darron Meares is a licensed auctioneer in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, and Florida. He is a former Chairman of the Education Institute of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) and has served a three-year term on the NAA Board of Directors. Darron is also a past president of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association and was honored as the 2013-14 South Carolina Bid Calling Grand Champion. In 2018, he was inducted into the South Carolina Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
Darron is a USPAP-compliant asset appraiser who works for private clients, banks, attorneys, and courts of law. The National Auction Association awarded him the Master Personal Property Appraiser (MPPA) designation for this work as an asset appraiser and expert witness. As a sought-after public speaker, Darron is a professional member of the National Speakers Association. He shares his expertise as an instructor at the Southeastern School of Auctioneering and also teaches at the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Starting with a goal of hosting 25 auctions in its first year, Bowtie Benefit Auctions exceeded expectations by conducting 51 events by 2010. Originally focused on South Carolina, our services now extend to North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We take pride in carefully selecting our clients, primarily focusing on events related to children, education, and community improvement. Additionally, golf events have become a significant part of our yearly calendar, providing a fun and engaging platform for fundraising.
